So I'm starting me 3rd year of teaching. It has gone so well already! Here are a few stories.
First day, 4th period. One student that I had last year is the class clown to the max, but since I had him last year, we will be ok. But his friend that is in the same period thought he could act the same as he always does. These boys just happened to be polynesian and the new boy didn't have a planner which they needed. He told me that they don't give planners to brown people. I really hate it when the kids think they can pull the race card, so I flippantly and without a thought, said "well go get a brown planner then." And so the knack for fast come backs slowly comes back, which I have found a middle school teacher must have. Later in that period this boy kept pushing it, so I laid it down hard and said I'd have to call home the first day. Then i talked to him later, made a deal and didn't have to call. Amazingly he has been an angel and very cute kid the rest of the week! Feels like a success.
Yesterday (Friday) a random kid in the hall ( I've never seen his face before) asked me if I knew what a hickie was. Lol, so I said yes, and he wanted to know what it was too. So I told him that if you suck on your skin long enough it goes red or purple. I obviously didn't go into ways this could be done, but talk about a weird moment in your life. Ahh, I love middle school. Always something to talk about.
I have really good classes (but it was still August so who knows :D) I love teaching. They are so fun really. Happy Back to School Everyone!

yea I want to hear about how things are going in a few months and than few months after that and so on. :-)
Hickies...What a discovery! Vital to any good education. If you ever run into him 10 years down the road, you should remind him of that memory. So funny. Glad to hear school is going good. How've you been?
